MILK BATH SESSIONS
WHAT IS A MILK BATH?
Did you know milk baths actually have been symbols of luxury and royalty for many years? In medieval times, royal families indulged in extravagant milk baths to keep themselves looking youthful. Now, milk bath photoshoots are becoming a blooming trend in portrait photography and I have found myself completely captivated by them. These dreamy, one-of-a-kind portraits are a creative and luxurious way to capture your unique story. Perfect for expectant mothers, to celebrate a special milestone or accomplishment in your life, or just because! These sessions involve a tub filled with creamy water, aromatherapy oils, and various botanicals or other unique components. It's a delightful sensory experience that will be the most relaxing shoot you've ever experienced.
MISCONCEPTIONS
Over the years, I’ve been met with several misconceptions regarding milk bath sessions, so let’s start by clearing those up to help explain what these shoots entail exactly.
First misconception is that they involve tubs full of nothing but milk. A milk bath is simply a bath where you add milk to your warm water. Not only can it be helpful in nourishing your skin, it especially helps create a striking setting for fine art portraits.
Which leads me to the second most common misconception — that milk baths call for dairy milk. There are actually several different types of milk you can incorporate to accomplish a variety of things:
whole milk (great for milky white, opaque water)
powdered milk (not one I recommend because it can leave clumps)
coconut milk (great for more translucent water)
rice or soy milk
goat’s milk
There’s also the option to forgo the milk and stick to just bath water for your photoshoot. You have plenty of options!
DECIDING WHAT TO INCORPORATE
Milk bath sessions are incredibly unique and diverse. Whatever your personal style or vision, there are plenty of options for us to work with. Dreamy & ethereal, floral & feminine, dark & edgy, vibrant & fun, artistic, quirky — whatever you can dream up, we can make it work!

foliage / various botanicals

biodegradable glitter
It all depends on your personal style and vision for your photoshoot. What speaks to you? I’d love to hear your ideas!
